Naturally Amazon is getting flack for not protecting the children from their content. I would think a bigger concern is that if you give kids a Kindle and they are able to see Prime Videos they are then able to buy anything they want. At least until they max out your credit card. Just saying…

Yet another rumor about Bill Gates returning to Microsoft. The idea seems completely bizarre. Naturally the source is unnamed. But Fortune mag is able to spin it as an “analysis/what if” story so they won’t technically be wrong if someone else replaces Ballmer. Of course there’s no specifics so they won’t be completely wrong until Bill dies. A reason to dump Forbes a a source of news as they move to link bait.

Some people just need to relax. A New Jersey brewery has taken New Jersey’s reputation for being all highways and named some beers in honor of highway exits in Jersey. This has got the turnpike authority and MADD concerned that it might promote drunk driving. I don’t know what to fear more, that people are stupid or bored enough to try to drum up controversey where these is none, or that they might be right and someone will take a slug from “Exit 4 Beer” and say “Hey, let’s throw the case in the car and go see what exit 4 is like.”

Ok, there’s probably some people upset that Hitler is ranting on Nikon (but hey, they were allies), but still, this is one of the funniest videos I’ve seen in a long time and I only mildly follow the Nikon/Canon rivalry (especially at the D3x price levels).

Website Changes

As return visitors (both of you) will notice, there’s been some changes at the BWOTAE. For starters, it all looks different. I switched WordPress themes and you can check out information about this one using the link in the footer. I’m not bothering to write about the theme here because, well, you probably don’t care. And, it may just be different in a week.

The one thing I will mention about the theme is it’s highly customizable and extensible while still providing an easy upgrade track. So don’t be surprised if things keep right on changing.

This website, in a addition to being my personal blog, is also a bit of a laboratory where I can try different things out without affecting my main site. Recently added to the lab were:

PollDaddy polls – the first poll question is in the right sidebar and runs through the election.

Disqus commenting – Disqus (pronounced “Discuss”) is a hosted web commenting system. Once benefit is once you get a Disqus account you (and others) can track all your comments. While comments can be imported & exported with my website the comments will remain even after this site goes away. A Disqus account isn’t required to comment here.

Lest you think this wasn’t a big waste of time – I started the day expecting to change this website’s theme to one I’ve already used and liked. Instead I got looking around and 8 hours later I have this theme and rough plans to use it as the framework for my other sites.

Well, this doesn’t have much to do with anything I’m interested in. (A Tesla auto isn’t in my foreseeable future). But since the title of this blog mentions wasting energy this Engadget post about the Tesla auto wasting energy while parked caught my attention.

Wasting in Line

One of the things I truly hate is waiting in line. So you won’t catch me in this line, waiting for the iPhone release on July 11th, still a week away. There does seem to be an alternative motive as they mention wanting to set a record for waiting in line. Something that makes my teeth hurt.

I’ve nothing against the iPhone and will seriously consider getting one later this year. But I can’t think of anything worth waiting in line for a week to get. Especially when I have to spend a chunk of cash when it’s my turn.
